Zones

A zone is an area you draw directly on a camera's view — for example, a high-voltage enclosure, an active machinery footprint, or a chemical storage area — with its own name, type, and rules.

Zones can be drawn, named, and configured today. Automatic alerting when a worker enters a restricted zone is on the roadmap — for now, zones are a configuration and planning tool, the same way the "Personnel Count Limit" rule is marked coming soon elsewhere in the dashboard.

Drawing a Zone

Open a camera's edit page (pencil icon on its card) and switch to the Zones tab.

1

Click Draw Zone

The cursor changes to a crosshair over the camera's snapshot.

2

Click to place points

Click at least 3 points on the image to outline the area. Each click adds a corner of the polygon.

3

Close the shape

Click back on the first point (it grows slightly once you have 3+ points, to show you can close there) to complete the polygon. Press Esc at any time to cancel and start over.

4

Name and configure the zone

A form appears below the canvas — fill in the zone's name, type, required PPE, and (optionally) a maximum person count, then click Save Zone.

Zone Types

Type Color Typical use
Restricted Zone Red Areas that should have no unauthorized entry at all — high-voltage enclosures, active machinery
Monitored Area Amber Areas worth watching but not fully off-limits — staging areas, loading zones
Safe Zone Green Designated safe areas — muster points, break areas

Zone Rules

Each zone can optionally specify:

  • Required PPE — which safety gear (helmet, vest, gloves) applies specifically within this zone
  • Max Persons — an occupancy limit for the area, e.g. a confined-space one-person rule. Leave blank for no limit.

Managing Saved Zones

Every zone you've saved for a camera appears in a list below the canvas, and as a colored outline drawn directly on the camera's snapshot — both on the Zones tab and, going forward, on other camera views. Click the trash icon next to a zone in the list to delete it.

Deleting a zone happens immediately — there is no confirmation prompt.
