Authentication

How to log in to the Lokawatch Safety Officer dashboard, manage your session, and change your password.

Logging In

Open your browser and navigate to the Lokawatch dashboard URL provided by your system administrator — typically http://YOUR_SERVER_IP or a custom domain.

1

Enter your credentials

On the login screen, enter your email address and password. These are set by your administrator during setup, or provided to you directly.

2

Click Sign In

Click the Sign In button. If your credentials are correct, you will be redirected to the main dashboard.

3

Session persists across browser restarts

Your login session is saved in your browser's local storage. You will remain logged in until you explicitly log out or clear your browser data.

On a brand-new installation, the first login is admin@lokawatch.com / admin123. Change this password immediately after your first sign-in — see below.

Logging Out

Click your avatar in the top-right corner of the dashboard to open the account menu, then select Log out. Your session will be cleared and you will be returned to the login screen.

Changing Your Password

Any user — Admin, Safety Officer, or Viewer — can change their own password at any time, without needing an administrator.

1

Open My Account

Click your avatar in the top-right corner, then select My Account.

2

Find the Change Password card

Enter your current password, then your new password twice to confirm.

3

Click Change Password

Your password updates immediately. You'll stay signed in on this device — no need to log in again.

New passwords must be at least 8 characters. There's no complexity requirement, but a longer, unique passphrase is safer than a short one with symbols.

Forgotten Password

If you've forgotten your password, you can't reset it yourself without knowing your current one — contact your administrator. From Settings → Users, an admin can either:

  • Set an exact new password for you directly, and tell you what it is, or
  • Trigger a reset that emails you a new temporary password automatically

See User Management for how an admin does this. No server command-line access is needed for either option.

User Roles

Role Capabilities
Admin Full access: manage cameras, configure detection rules and zones, manage users, delete violation records, view all alerts
Safety Officer View dashboard and camera feeds, acknowledge violations, mark false alarms, export reports
Viewer Read-only: view dashboard, cameras, and violation log — no action permissions

For on-premise deployments, keep the number of Admin users minimal. Assign Safety Officer role to daily operations staff.
